SPARTA, NJ - The Spartans took care of business as the number one seed in the North Jersey, group three, first round matchup against number eight seed, Ramapo, 54-10.
The Spartans used early pins by Paddy Finnegan and Sean McHugh to grind out the victory on Monday night. Finnegan's match against Austin Holder was arguably the best of the night. After a back and forth battle, Finnegan flipped Holder over for the pin after three minutes and 57 seconds. Those pins set up Sparta for the victory.
Zach Herbert, Robert Gennat, Marcus Bitetto and Garrett Stewart joined McHugh and Finnegan win pinfalls to give their team six points each. Christopher Huang, Kevin Berlin and Sean Finnegan went the distance to give their team three points each.
The Spartans move to 16-8. They take on the winner of the Pascack Valley and River Dell first round matchup at home on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The Spartans need a lively crowd like the one of Monday to push them to the next round.
