SPARTA, NJ – Sparta Township Police department introduced two new officers at the township council meeting on Monday.  Chief Ernie Reigstad and Lt Neil Spidaletto stood in front of council members and the people gathered in the council chambers to introduce Thomas Herd and Steven Guido.

Reigstad said the two new officers both graduated at the top of their class.

They will continue to be mentored by training officers to “learn about how things are done locally.”  Rob Frasier will be working with Herd and both Rick Smith and Dan Elig will be with Guido.

“I guess it will take two trainers for you Steve,” Reigstad quipped to the new officer.

“Thank all of you for your service to our community,” Mayor Christine Quinn said to the officers.

“These officers represented Sparta well with high scores at the academy,” Sparta Township Manager Bill Close said.  “I am confident they will make a good contribution to the community.”

“I can tell you your career will go quick,” Reigstad said.  “Stay safe.”
