SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta Water Utility began flushing fire hydrants beginning the week of April 16 in the Lake Mohawk, Highlands and Sunset Lakes water systems. The flushing will take place between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The flushing is expected to take five weeks to complete. While no service interruptions are anticipated, there may be sporadic water discoloration, according to township officials. They advise water customers watch laundry water while the program is in effect.
