SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta VFW is busy preparing for the annual Memorial Day parade to be held on Monday, May 29.  This year they are anticipating over 600 people to march the route from Lake Mohawk Marina, down Lake Trail East through White Deer Plaza and up Mohawk Avenue.  Additionally, they are expecting 30 vehicles and 20 motorcycles.

The participants will begin processing at 10 a.m.

After the parade the Memorial Day Ceremony will take place next to the Mohawk Avenue School.  The opening ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. with remarks by Lieutenant Colonel Masternack, U.S. Army.

The Grand Marshall is James Fleming.  There will be a wreath laying ceremony as well.

The Sparta VFW is providing a complementary lunch and refreshments at noon in the VFW hall on Main Street.
