SPARTA, NJ – Sparta will be celebrating Memorial Day, remembering and honoring people who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces on Monday beginning with a parade.  The Sparta VFW is sponsoring Sparta’s annual event.

This year the VFW will be focusing on our World War II veterans.  They are asking the community to bring their families to the VFW to recognize the special individuals, truly the greatest generation, according to Sparta VFW Commander Peter Litchfield.

After the parade the VFW on Main Street will host a cookout.  Special tables will be set up for World War II families, Litchfield said.

Crowds will be lining the parade route and police advise traffic will be detoured around the area. The events will go rain or shine.
