SPARTA, NJ – A Sparta woman is facing drunk driving charges after someone called in a tip to the Sparta police about a possible intoxicated driver. On August 3 around 5:30 p.m. police officer Steven Guido stopped the black BMW X5 that had been reported traveling to Sparta from Jefferson, police report.
Marvilys Flores, 43, was stopped on East Shore Trail, after Guido observed her driving through White Deer Plaza. When the officer spoke with Flores he smelled alcohol. Flores told Guido she had two glasses of wine with lunch, police report.
Flores was given field sobriety tests and then taken into custody. She then began having medical issues and was brought to Newton Medical Center for evaluation, police report.
When she was released from the hospital Flores was brought to Sparta Police Department headquarters for processing. She was charged with DWI, failure to maintain a lane and careless driving. She was released to a sober adult with a court date.
