SPARTA, NJ – This summer students from the Sparta High School Yearbook club attended Josten’s Gettysburg Camp at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania.  While there they competed in the Gold Fast Track, the highest level.  They earned third place for presentation and theme development.  In addition, they won the Spirit Award.

The camp offers instructional workshops that include lectures, small group theme sessions and labs.  They even have homework.  At the camp the yearbook team works on developing the theme for the upcoming year, create some of the format, choose color schemes and page design.

“They had the opportunity to learn about real world application of literary design and publication due dates,” explained Photography teacher and Yearbook advisor Christine Mase.

The students also have the opportunity to take advantage of the historical setting with battlefield tours, candlelight ghost walking tours and a tour of the printing plant in Gettysburg.
