FLANDERS, NJ – Sparta High School baseball scored in the first and last inning in their game against Mount Olive on the road.  On Thursday the Spartans defeated the Marauders 2-1.

Connor Coyle was on the mound getting three strike outs and allowing only two walks.  Coyle allowed only one run on three hits in his six and one third innings.

Paul DeAquino, Jarrett DiBlasio and Eugene Jarome each contributed with two hits.  It was Jake Zerillo who scored the winning run in the top of the seventh.

Sparta’s season record is now 9-6-1.  They will play Pope John on the road on Friday.
