SPARTA, NJ – Summer has come to Sparta and with it, many weekend events.  This weekend the entertainment begins on Friday night for the Elks Lodge Grand Marshal dinner in advance of the Fourth of July parade.

This year the grand marshal is recently retired Sparta Police Chief Ernie Reigstad.  The dinner begins at 7 p.m. in the Elks Lodge at 6 West Shore Trail, on the boardwalk.  Tickets are $30 per person.  The attire is business casual.

The Fourth of July Parade is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 2.  The marchers will line up at East Shore Trail and Twin Elm.  The parade will process down East Shore Trail, through White Deer Plaza and up Mohawk Avenue.

Awards, refreshments and free hotdogs will follow immediately after the parade. The Ski Hawks will be performing on Lake Mohawk at Beach 1 after the parade.  The community is encouraged to come see the show.

The fireworks, sponsored by Lake Mohawk Country Club, will begin at dusk on July 2. The rain date for the fireworks is Monday, July 3.

 Next Saturday, July 7 the Sparta Arts Council will present their first concert of the summer season.  The Milagro Saints will play at Dykstra Park beginning at 7 p.m.
