SPARTA, NJ - Sparta's third grade students have been working on a community service project for the second marking period. The students and their families supported the Mohawk Makes a Difference Initiative from January 7 to February 17.
They pitched in the collecting items for donation to local animal shelters. A total of 102 items were collected, pet food, pet beds, toys, blankets, and a variety of other much needed pet supplies.
The students not only donated items, but they also participated by sorting, tallying each category, and dividing the items between the shelters.
"Father Johns and O.S.C. A.R. appreciate the MAS students commitment to helping shelter animals," Guidance Counselor Pam Fauerbach said.
For the first marking period, the Mohawk Avenue School family collected winter wear for their note in a coat initiative.
