SPARTA, NJ – Sparta Police stopped a woman for speeding and then arrested her for DWI. On April 4 Sparta Cpl Kurt Morris stopped a 2002 Ford on Route 15 for speeding around 2:30 a.m., police report.
When he approached the driver, Alexxine Mendez appeared to be intoxicated. The 23 year-old Sandyston resident was given Field Sobriety test, which she failed, according to police.
Mendez was placed under arrest and transported to Sparta Police Department headquarters for processing and breath testing. She was charged with DWI, Speeding and Careless Driving.
She was released several hours later to a sober adult pending a court date.
