SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta High School girls cross country team is facing the end of the 2019 season with a strong team record. They finished eighth in the sectional meet, just 31 seconds off the mark as a team, so they are not advancing to the state tournament according to Coach Sarah Pisano.

Spartan Senior Genesis Sanchez finished just 12 seconds out of the running for advancing to the next level of competition, Pisano said.

“It has been a pleasure to work with these girls over the years,” Pisano said. “This year we will be graduating 10 seniors, all of whom have contributed greatly to the program. Without each and everyone of them we would not have had the successful year that we did- they have made their mark in the history of Sparta high school athletics.”
