HAMBURG, NJ - Students in schools across Sussex County wore white on Monday in memory of Tommy Bock. Bock, a student at Sussex Technical School, lost his life after a longboarding accident on Sunday.
A sign of the times, news of the accident reverberated on social media including facebook and twitter, according to parents of high school students in several different schools. Students in Wallkill Valley, Sparta and Sussex Technical high schools were seen in white t-shirts and Bock was the topic of conversation as well. The schools also had a moment of silent at 10:53 a.m., the time when Bock passed.
Services for Tommy Bock will be held this Thursday, May 11 at St Jude the Apostle church on Beaver Run Road in Hamburg from 3 to 8 p.m. There will be a mass on Friday at 11 a.m. at the same location.
The family is asking for donations to the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation in lieu of flowers. This foundation is dedicated to spinal cord injury research. As of Monday night the gofundme for Bock has received more than $35,000 in donations to help the family with funeral expenses.
