Sussex County Residents Pass Certified Patient Care Technician Assistant Exam

DOVER,NJ-Students from Sussex County, NJ, two from Sparta,  recently passed the Certified Patient
Care Technician Assistant (CPCT-A) exam. These students are graduates
of the Patient Care Technician (PCT) program at Berkeley College in
Dover.

“Patient Care Technicians monitor patients and work closely with
doctors and nurses to assure that each patient receives the best
possible care,” said Elizabeth Fitzgerald, RN, CCRN, Chair, Practical
Nurse and Patient Care Technician programs, Berkeley College School of
Health Studies.


The following students from Sussex County have passed the CPCT-A exam:

- Christina Batista of Ogdensburg
- Samantha Campion of Sparta
- Kayleen Carroll of Franklin
- Emily Chayka of Sussex
- Amanda Opdyke of Sparta
- Vanessa Rivera of Hopatcong

Graduates of the PCT program at Berkeley College are certified in
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and are eligible to sit for the CPCT-A
exam, as well as the Certified Electrocardiography and Certified
Phlebotomy exams. Patient Care Technicians are prepared to work in a
variety of healthcare environments, including hospitals, mental health
facilities and rehabilitation centers.

The Berkeley College School of Health Studies was created to provide
career-focused education in some of today’s most in-demand healthcare
professions – in clinical specializations, as well as healthcare
administration and management. Degree and certificate programs have
been carefully developed to meet the needs of this important field.
Healthcare programs are currently offered in Clifton and Dover.
Beginning in Summer 2014, students can enroll in the PCT, Medical
Assistant and Surgical Processing Technician programs in Newark and
Woodbridge.

SPARTA, NJ – A Sparta woman is facing drug charges after a traffic stop on Route 15.  On April 21 around 11:10 a.m. Sparta Cpl. Joe Antonello stopped Marina Scheer, 20, because the license plate on her green Toyota was bent making it impossible to read, according to police.

NEWTON, NJ—A one-manned plane crashed into Lake Aeroflex in Kittatinny Valley State Park around 11:30 this morning.
