STOCKHOLM, NJ - What do you get when you combine scouts and their families from Patriots’ Path Council Sussex District, skating at Skylands Ice World, and outdoors skills games? Tons of fun at the Sussex Freeze O’ Ree.
On March 12 Skylands Ice World hosted a fun-filled afternoon for over 100 scouts, ranking from Lion to Arrow of Light together with their families, from throughout Sussex District. After a skating lesson and an awesome hour of skating, participants headed outside for winter fun activities including broom hockey, cubmobile races, archery, map and compass games, casting, tug-o-war, and crossing a hand-built monkey bridge.
During the event, participants had the opportunity to support Color A Smile at colorasmile.org by drawing pictures that will be distributed to senior citizens, troops overseas, and anyone in need of a smile. The goal of Color A Smile is to put smiles on people’s faces and remind them that someone is thinking of them.
Organizers wanted to give a “big thank you to Skylands Ice World, members of the Cub Activities Committee, Dave Bork, Cubmaster of Pack 153 - Sussex-Wantage, Karen Rozek, Sussex District Commissioner, Jim Coffaro, Scoutmaster of Troop 187- Hamburg-Hardyston and Boy Scouts from Troop 187 for all their hard work to give the scouts such a fun event.”
