On Saturday, September 30, 2017, the halls of Newton High School were filled with students attending Dream Day Newton. Approximately 150 girls were treated to hand-on activities by Revlon, Johnson & Johnson, BD Medical, County College of Morris, U.S Army Armament R&D, and Mondelez International. Our thanks go to the wonderful volunteers from these organizations, who made this a day to remember. The impact of how STEM plays a role in our life everyday will remain with the participants long after their lavender bath “bombs” are gone, or their handmade Oreo® cookies are eaten.
We at The DreamGirls Initiative would like to thank the Newton School District for welcoming our program and girls from around the county into their beautiful facilities. The staff was a pleasure to work with and helped make the day run smoothly. The day was so much more successful because of their tremendous support.
We would also like to send a special thanks to Thor Labs, our Gold Sponsor for the event. Their generosity helped provide this program to the community free of charge. In addition, thank you to our other generous sponsors, Sussex Bank, First Hope Bank, and WalMart of Newton.
The DreamGirls Initiative is a nonprofit organization committed to closing the gender gap in STEM by showcasing female role models working in varying industries. Information on future programming can be found by visiting our Facebook page.
