SPARTA, NJ - Troop 150’s Scoutmaster Joe Fucito, affectionately known as “Uncle Joe”officially marked his 50th year in scouting this year. The occasion was celebrated at the Troop’s March Court of Honor, a quarterly event that celebrates the new ranks, merit badges and other achievements the scouts have earned.
Fucito joined scouting as a Cub Scout in 1967. After graduating to Boy Scouts in 1970, he ascended the ranks eventually achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in 1974.
Eagle Scout is the highest achievable rank in Scouting, with only two percent of Boy Scouts reaching this rank since 1912 and six percent in 2014. Throughout the years he has worked at many scout camps and also held various positions as an adult leader in various Scout Councils and Committees.
The highlight of the evening was when Fucito saw many people from his 50 years of scouting come to celebrate this special event with him. Attendees included old friends who were scouts with him in Caldwell Troop 9, scout leaders who have worked with him throughout the years, parents, friends, and families. Celebrating the evening with him was his wife of 29 years, Chris Fucito.
“Congratulations Uncle Joe,” said scouts of Troop 150.
