FRANKLIN NJ – A Sparta juvenile was seriously injured in a two car collision that closed Route 23 in Franklin for several hours on Wednesday. The accident occurred “in the area of the Irish Cottage,” at 11 p.m. according to Franklin Police.
In a statement released by the police their investigation shows Thomas Scott was driving north on Route 23 when he crossed into the southbound lane and struck the car being driven by the juvenile.
Both drivers were seriously injured with Scott, a 28 year-old Hamburg resident medevacked to Morristown Medical Center police said. The juvenile also went to Morristown Medical Center by ambulance.
Borough of Franklin Detective Meditation Nevin Mattessich said, “Our investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.”
Initially Route 23 was closed for several hours. Local emergency services from the Wallkill Valley First Aid Squad and Franklin Fire Department help to extricate the drivers.
Mattessich said no charges have been filed at this time as the investigation continues.
