SPARTA, NJ – A Union City man was arrested after being stopped on Route 15 on September 3.  Sparta Police Cpl Marc Rubino stopped 38 year-old Jefferson Medina for failing to maintain a lane of travel.  Cpl Rubin found the driver to be operating his vehicle without a driver’s license, according to a statement from the Sparta police department.

Prior to being transported to police headquarters so he could get a ride home, Medina secured his 1998 Chrysler.  He was then found to have a wooden “dugout” in his possession.  The item is used to store and smoke marijuana, though Rubino did not find any marijuana in the device.

Medina was issued motor vehicle summonses for Failure to Keep Right, Failure to Exhibit a Driver’s License and Unlicensed Driver.  He was also charged for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
