SPARTA, NJ – Volleyball is coming to Station Park.  Two new white-sand volleyball courts are being constructed near the footbridge over the Wallkill river and should be done next week, according to Sparta Parks are Recreation Director Jeanne Montemarano.

The construction work is being done by the Sparta Township Department of Public Works and Parks Department employees.  They are substantially complete, awaiting on delivery of some equipment.  Once it arrives and the courts and surrounding areas are cleaned up they will be ready for serve, set and spike.

For now they will just be open to the public, no reservations needed.

“We are just adding another activity to the park for the public to enjoy at their leisure,” Montemarano said.

The recreation director will be looking at all of the facilities to determine how a reservation system could work.  If leagues are added in the future or if reservations come into play, the community will be advised.

“For now we hope the public brings their volleyballs and has fun on the courts,” Montemarano said.
