NEWTON, NJ—There are many changes sprouting up all around the Town of Newton these days, including three major construction projects. Dunkin Donuts, Auto Zone on Sparta Newton Road and the Newton Town Centre Senior Residences being built on Spring Street.
According to Town Manager, Thomas S Russo Jr., who spoke about the projects at the last Town Council meeting “the Dunkin Donuts, located on Newton Sparta Road diagonally across from Thorlabs should be up and ready within 60 days, and the Auto Zone, located on Water Street where the old Pizza Hut was, should be up and ready in 90 days.”
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Town Centre was held in October of 2016, with the hopes that the building would be occupied by the end of 2017.
Construction of the Auto Zone began a few weeks ago and despite some graffiti stating “Bring Back the Hut,” there have been no issues.
The Dunkin Donuts on Newton Sparta Road is the idea of Alex Cable, owner of ThorLabs, as the latest incentive for his employees, joining the Merriam Gateway Apartments and Fitness Nation Gym. Construction began this past week on the building.
