My name is William Washer. I am excited to announce that I am running for The Sparta Board of Education. I have been a Sussex County resident all of my life and when my wife and I decided to purchase our home, we chose Sparta. I received my undergraduate degree from Rider University in Business Administration and Entrepreneurial Studies and my MBA from Centenary University. I am currently working as Vice President of Operations and second generation successor in my family’s manufacturing company. Working in manufacturing and hiring many high school graduates, I have learned firsthand the importance of a school system that prides itself in giving every student a well-rounded education. A school system needs to make sure that every student has the building blocks to achieve a successful future no matter what his or her future holds. Students should learn the skills needed to attend college, trade school, the military, or head straight into the workforce depending on their passions.

Working in operations I have learned the importance of working with others, even with different opinions, to reach a common goal. I always make my decisions after listening to all sides of any situation and keep an open mind to everyone’s thoughts and opinions. It is also very important, especially on a school board, to be on the same page since the end goal is always the success of the students.

I would like to let you know some of the issues I will be focusing on in the coming weeks,
