Mount Olive High School Leo Club is supporting our Veterans with a Zombie Run in October.

The Leos are the High School aged version of Lions Club and Mt. Olive High School has a very special group of giving young people. 

The Leos are sponsoring the Zombie Run in October that will serve to help our homeless, impoverished and disenfranchised veterans and their families.  Project Help has been working within the school for the last nine months with interns and recently, with the help of the Leos’ advisor, Mrs. Riley-Lepo, they have been able to pull a great team together that is second to none.

The event will be held on the field at Mt. Olive High School and will take place in the late afternoon and early evening.  The scheduled date isOctober 14 and all of the details will be released soon. 

The Leos are a service organization that performs many valuable tasks within the community.  They raise money for various causes, do community service events, and they care for Camp Marcella in Rockaway, which serves blind children and much more.

“Working with the staff and students at Mt. Olive High School has been a great experience for Project Help and for the students”, says Sandy Mitchell, President and founder of Project Help.  “The young perspective is invaluable to the success of our organization and our events”, says Mitchell.

The Zombie Run will consist of zombies, who will attempt to catch the living, and thus cause them to become zombies.  The event is a 5k with the added challenge for the living to not get caught by a zombie.  It’s all fun, and the event hopes to raise a good amount of money for our veterans.

This is an open community event.  Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the Zombie 5K fun run.  Registration details will be available on the Project Help Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ProjectHelpus as well as on the website at www.ProjectHelp.us.  Teams and individuals from all over are welcome to come play with the other zombies from Mt. Olive High School and the Project Help team.

At this point, the group is looking for goodie bag donations, tee shirt sponsors, sign and banner sponsors, bib sponsors and general sponsors.  In-kind sponsors are extremely valuable to this event to supply any of the food and beverage give away items, such as fruit, energy bars and water as well as advertising in the print and digital media.
