Before you tear into that turkey on Thanksgiving Day, get out of the house and head to one of these top Turkey Trots in Morris and Sussex Counties.  Team Nest Builder promises you won’t feel quite so bad about that second helping of pumpkin pie after running a 5K--gobble, gobble!

This huge annual event offers not only carb-burning through the Adult 5K, Youth 5K and Fun Run, but also carb-loading!  If you register at the Lake Mohawk Country Club between 5pm and 8pm on November 22nd (or if you’ve already registered online) you’re invited to the Villa Capri Pasta Party on the Lake Mohawk boardwalk (also 5pm to 8pm on November 22nd)! Registered participants are FREE, guests are $5.  Day-of on-site registration runs 7am - 8am in the Lake Mohawk Country Club. Morris Township Thanksgiving Day 5K/1M Turkey Trot presented by Interfaith Food Pantry & Literacy Volunteers of Morris County

Ginty Field Complex at 49 Woodland Ave. Morris Township

In addition to the traditional 5K Run and 1M Fun Run/Walk, this event offers a Kids’ Trot for the 12-and-under crowd (a sprint across Ginty Field after which all participants receive ribbons), as well as DJ entertainment, refreshments, “Turkey Tee” and more!  Organizers allow strollers and baby joggers on the 1M course only and you’ll need to leave your pets at home. On-site registration and packet pick-up opens at 7 am on race day, followed by the 5K Run at 8:30 am, the 1M Fun Walk/Run at 8:40 am and the Kids’ Trot at 9:15am.  This event draws big crowds, so be sure to arrive early to provide ample time to find a parking spot. Butler Turkey Trot 2017/6th Annual Thanksgiving Morning 5K and Fun Run/Fitness Walk

The Butler Booster Club invites participants to “run, walk, jog or even skip” at this family-friendly event! Online registration closes at noon on November 22nd, and 5K online registrants are guaranteed a t-shirt.   The Fun Run starts at 8:15 am, while the 5K (warning:  hilly course) begins at 8:30 am. The 9th Annual Chatham Turkey Trot

The 11th Annual WMC Memorial Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk

West Morris Central High School, 259 Bartley Road, Chester

This event continues the tradition of the WMC Memorial Race started 10 years ago in memory of Kyleigh D'Alessio and Tanner Birch. Since then the race has also honored the memory of Stephen Berstler. The proceeds of the race fund the memorial scholarships in their names as well as new recreational projects for the benefit of the Township. One Injured in Two-Family House Fire in Newton
