Sparta Public Library Presents, "Build a Better World"

Sparta residents entering PreK-6th grade in the Fall of 2017 are invited to participate in the Summer Reading Program at Sparta Public Library.  The theme is “Build a Better World”.  Online registration opens on June 1st at www.spartalibrary.com and continues through the duration of the program. Even though the program will not officially kick off until July 6th, eager readers can begin logging online July 1st.

The more you read the more chances you have to earn fantastic prizes! You can log your progress online daily to track your minutes and earn your reading credits. Push yourself even more with weekly challenges earning free books!

The summer reading program will officially kick off on July 6th at 11:00 a.m. with Mad Science. Activities are scheduled from July 10th through Aug. 11th for all participants including, Builder’s Cart, Movie Matinees, Screen Free Time, Family Storytime, and Brick Building. We will celebrate all our readers with a Summer Reading Finale on Aug. 16th at 3 p.m. There will be grand prize drawings, hot dogs, cotton candy, popcorn, and carnival games run by our Summer Reading Volunteers!

Sparta Police Pick Up Newark Man with Outstanding Warrants

SPARTA, NJ – A Newark man has been arrested on drug charges after getting the attention of Sparta police on Route 15.  On November 12 around 9 p.m., Sparta Police Cpl. Dave Pridham stopped a white Chevy van driven by Manuel Chimborazo for speeding and failing to keep right, police report.
