Sparta Recreation's Trunk or Treat and Munchkin March

SPARTA, NJ – Dress up the kids and the cars. The 2019 Trunk or Treat and Munchkin March will be held in a new location this year.

The Sparta Recreation Department is inviting the community the Kids Kastle parking lot in Station Park on Sunday, October 27 at 5:30 p.m. 

Schedule of events:

  • 4:30 p.m. cars participating in the Trunk of Treat arrive for set up
  • 5:30 p.m. Trunk or Treat
  • 6 p.m. Munchkin March costume parade

Families are requested to bring a small bag of candy to be distributed at the Trunk or Treat and food donations to the Sparta Ecumenical Food Pantry.

Prizes will be awarded for best decorated trunk and most creative costumes.

Adults are asked not to wear masks. 

Cars participating in the Trunk or Treat must be pre registered – call 973-729-2383.  Additional information available at Sparta.org/parks-rec-dept

Sparta Police: Speeding Through Construction Site Ends in Arrest

SPARTA, NJ – A Stockholm woman is facing charges when she was stopped for speeding through a closed road.  On October 11 around 11:50 p.m. Tracy Deangelis, 31, was stopped on West Mountain Road after Officer Craig Grauerholz saw her drive through the closed portion of CR 517 going 55 MPH in a 35 MPH, police said.

Sparta's East Mountain Road Construction Continues

SPARTA, NJ – The East Mountain Road paving project is scheduled to continue on Monday, October 14, according to township officials.  Paving is expected to last the whole day.

CR 517 to be Closed for Emergency Repairs Friday Night
