SPARTA, NJ – Students jammed the gym on Friday for a pep rally.

“It was a celebration of our winter sports teams,” Athletic Director Steve Stoner said.  “Celebrating what they have accomplished and to build excitement for our upcoming tournaments.”

The team captains introduced the members of the winter teams; girls and boys basketball, bowling, ice hockey, cheerleading, ice hockey, robotics, special Olympics, skiing, swimming, winter track and wrestling.

With the pep band playing and the students cheering, the gymnasium was filled with noise and excitement, Stoner said.

One student faculty competition took the form of Knock Out, a basketball based game.  Teacher and coach Michael Tobin was the winner.

A second competition pitted student Rocco Cortese against teacher and coach Daniel Trappe on the ergs.  The student won the rowing competition.

“It was a good time,” Stoner said.  “I’m hoping to do them for each season.”
