SPARTA, NJ – Throughout the town, neighborhoods are being treated to front porch concerts.  On Tuesday evening, the Sparta Middle School orchestra “took to the streets” to perform.

Orchestra teacher Andrea Santora said, “My Sparta Middle School Orchestra Students and I are very sad we were not able to showcase our Spring Concert Program this evening due to Covid-19.”

Santora said the students have been continuing to rehearse to maintain their skills.  They have even been able to develop new techniques with distance lessons.

“Many students have expressed how getting together to rehearse is their most favorite time of day,” Santora said. “I can tell you it is for me too. Playing instruments or singing in the chorus can massage your brain while stimulating the connections that would otherwise lie dormant.”

She said an additional benefit of creating music "is the chance to release stress."

“We look so forward to playing together again, in the same room,” Santora said. “And I miss them all so very much.”
