SPARTA, NJ – Electric car charging stations will be available next month. According to Sparta Township Manager Bill Close on or about November 18 Sparta will be the first town in Sussex County to offer public charging stations.
Two dual port chargers are to be installed in the parking lots at the Sparta Library, Station Park and the municipal building. The township received two grants for the projects.
The first was for $10,000 Sustainable New Jersey matching grand awarded in January of 2019.
The second grant was announced by Close in March 2019 for $18,000 through Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust.
According to Charge Point the BMW dealership and the Wooden Duck Bed and Breakfast in Newton are private charging stations in Sussex County.
