SPARTA, NJ- The Bridge that connects Ungerman Field to the Sparta Library, Mohawk Avenue School complex has been closed for more than a month. The bridge will have to be replaced due to damage sustained when a tree branch fell on it, according to Sparta Township Manager William Close.
Initially the bridge was closed while the structural integrity was evaluated. According to Close the damage was too much to simply be repaired.
It will be replaced by the end of April, Close said. “From start to finish the total cost will be around $60,000,” Close said. That number includes the demolition, design and construction of the vital link over the Wallkill River.
