NEWTON, NJ—The community of the town of Newton is trying to spread the message of hope around the town while staying inside their houses.

The Town of Newton recreation is asking for all residents of Newton to help spread hope and gratitude via their Facebook page.

“Heartfelt thanks to all our heroes on the front lines during this time in our lives. Display your sign of Hope and Gratitude on a door or window.”

The recreation committee is asking residents who display signs to snap a photo of them and post it on Facebook with the hashtag #NewtonNJThanksYou.

In a similar effort, people around Sussex County are placing teddy bears in their windows as part of a scavenger hunt.  Homes and businesses across the country have been placing teddy bears in windows allowing parents to take the children for a ride or walk and go on a scavenger hunt, according to a post on Sussex County! What's Going On facebook page.   

"Do you have a 'bear in your window'? If so share!! Fill in I'm near ____________ with a landmark near you!

Peek a boo I see you! But do you see me?I’m near ‘the boardwalk’ Come look for me! I have lots of friends around town too. Take a ride and say ‘hi’ to them too!"
