SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ – The county has lost two more residents to the coronavirus according to the Sussex County Department of Health.  On Wednesday, the County Freeholder Director Sylvia Petillo said a 77-year-old male from Hopatcong Borough and a 73-year-old man from Andover Township have died. 

The county is working with people who have been in contact with these patients, Petillo said.

According to the New Jersey Department of Health COVID-19 dashboard, six Sussex County Residents have died from coronavirus.

County officials also announced an additional 28 identified cases, brining the total to 165.  The new cases include:

Testing for coronavirus is still not available in Sussex County.  Anyone who is concerned they may have symptoms of COVID-19 are asked to contact their doctor.  The FEMA testing center at the Bergen Community College campus requires a prescription to be tested.

The New Jersey COVID-19 dashboard reports as of April 1, there have been 22,255 positive tests, 30,387 negative tests and 355 deaths, related to coronavirus. Bergen County continues to have the most patients with 3,494, and 75 deaths, Essex County has 2,262 patients with 69 deaths, .  

According to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus resource center, The United States currently has 213,372 confirmed cases with 8,474 recovered patients and 4,757 coronavirus deaths.  New York City has reported 1,139 COVID-19 related deaths.
