SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ – Sussex County has reported four more residents have died from coronavirus. The victims are an 88-year-old man from Sparta, 59-year-old man from Montague, an 85-year-old woman from Frankford and a 73-year-old woman from Andover according to a statement Sussex County Freeholder Director Sylvia Petillo.

This brings the total COVID-19 related deaths in the county to 28.

Governor Murphy signed executive orders to protect phone and internet customers.  The order prohibits services from being shut off until 30 days after the COVID-19 shutout.  The order also prohibits late fees, service downgrades or reductions because of non-payment in most cases, during this health emergency. The order is retroactive to March 16, requiring restoration of services if they have been cut off.

Sussex County has also had an additional 40 residents with positive test results bringing the total to 500.  There is still no testing in Sussex County.

The New Jersey COVID-19 dashboard reports as of April 13, there have been a total of 118,097 total tests reported; 64,584 positive tests and 2,443 deaths, related to coronavirus. Bergen County continues to have the most patients with 10,092 and 482 deaths.

Hudson County has the second highest count of residents with positive test results; 7,879 patients with 236 deaths. Essex County has slightly fewer patients with 7,634 and 433 deaths.

According to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus resource center, The United States currently has 550,016 confirmed cases with 2,935,006 people tested and 23,608 coronavirus deaths.  New York City has reported   COVID-19 related deaths.

Testing for coronavirus is still not available in Sussex County.  Anyone who is concerned they may have symptoms of COVID-19 are asked to contact their doctor.
