SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta Board of Education will meet at Sparta High School for the August meeting.
According to the agenda, the meeting will begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new turf field across the street.
The Special Services Audit done last winter, will be presented to the board members and the public. Rossi, Assistant Superintendent Patrick McQueeney, Director of Special Services Danielle Hamblin, Special Services Supervisor Adrienne Castorina are all listed as presenters.
Rossi’s Merit Bonus is on the Finance agenda for board approval. Only four of the five superintendent goal are listed reducing the total amount Rossi is eligible for to $20,937.50 or 12.5% of his salary.The maximum bonus would have been aproximately $25,000 or 14.99% of his salary according to his contract.
The board approved Rossi's goals in August of 2018. They are:
- Communication 3.33%
- SGOs (80% achievement of literacy SGOs at the elementary level) 3.33%
- Creation of Strategic Plan 3.33%
- Creation of Sparta High School Alumni Association 2.5%
- Rossi’s fifth goal was related to district core values. It is not listed on the agenda to be included in his bonus
A Modern Music Masters club is on the agenda for approval. Deborah Gianuzzi is listed as the advisor.
Expenditure on the finance agenda include new band uniforms and upgraded lighting for Alpine Elementary School.
The board will vote to accept a $1000 donation from Thorlabs for a Lego Robotics sponsorship for the Helen Morgan School robotics program.
The curriculum and instruction portion of the agenda shows a resolution to adopt revised curriculum for English Language Arts, Mathematics and Social Studies. The details are not available yet, even though the agenda says “(attached).”
The meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 26 to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the high school media center. After the opening business, the meeting will adjourn to the new field across the street for the ribbon cutting ceremony. The meeting and ceremony are open to the public.
