SPARTA, NJ – There are two items on the agenda for the Sparta Board of Education’s special meeting scheduled for Monday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m..
According to the legal notice and posted agenda, the board will be selecting a new board member and voting to accept the resignation of the business administrator Pam Hinman.
The board will open in public at 6:30 p.m. then go to closed session to interview candidates for the board of education seat vacated by Karen Scott. According to the posted agenda the executive session is expected to last between 60 and 90 minutes.
“The public portion will begin no earlier than 7:30 p.m. and may start closer to 8 p.m., depending on how long executive session takes,” the meeting notice said.

As Scott was one year into a three-year term, the seat will be on the November ballot as a two-year term. The person appointed by the board on Monday will only serve until the reorganization meeting in January 2021.
