SPARTA, NJ – Due to the coronavirus and the New Jersey Governor's orders, Sparta Bag It Day has been postponed.  

Looking for something to do?  Join in the Sparta Bag it Day on March 28 and 29 to get outside and help to keep Sparta beautiful. 

Sparta Mountain resident Mitch Morrison organizes the annual initiative, inviting individuals, families and businesses to participate.

The Sparta Bag it Day Rules and Regulations are:

  • Wear bright clothing,
  • Wear gloves, work pants, work boots – protective eye wear is recommended,
  • Do not pick up glass, anything rusty, anything sharp, anything too heavy, anything that looks even remotely dangerous (such as syringes)
  • Bring trash bags,
  • Bring water and a health snack,
  • Children are not allowed on the road to pick up trash. 
  • Everyone must be off the road.
  • Remember you are invisible to traffic. Do not assume anyone can see you
  • Everyone must email to register

Clean up locations are available in neighborhoods, parks and other designated public spaces.

Morrison asks that everyone email him when they have completed clean up in their area.  Let him know exactly where the full trash bags are so he can pick them up.  He will take them to the dump.
