SPARTA, NJ – The band shell at Dykstra Park, sight of summer outdoor concerts and family movie nights, has just received an update to make it more accessible to all.  Eagle scout Jackson Jurevich from Sparta Boy Scout Troop 150 created a viewing platform with pavers and railings for people in wheelchairs.

Located at the back of the park, it is between the library park, the outdoor bathroom and the band shell, under the shade of the tall pine trees.

According to Deputy Mayor Christine Quinn the Sparta Township Department of Public Works assisted with the project.

It will be available for use on Friday for the Sparta Arts Summer Concert.  Billy Hector will take the stage at 7 p.m. The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part will be screened on August 10.  The free movie is the last in the 2019 summer movie series.  The park will open at 6:30 p.m. with DJ music, face painting, tattoos, glow sticks and fresh popcorn provided to movie goers before the show begins around 8 a.m.
