BRIDGEWATER, NJ — No injuries have been reported in an incident that shut down Bridgewater Commons Mall Thursday evening after a fight involving a crowd of 40-50 people.
Police are still investigating unconfirmed reports of shots being fired, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.
The mall is closed for the evening as the investigation continues.
Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said Bridgewater Township Police responded to the mall at 6:27 p.m. following a call that there was a fight in the food court area of the mall.
Bridgewater mall security had separated the crowd, but the fight continued outside in a parking lot, according to Somerset County Prosecutor's Detective Jeanne Trillhaase.
As officers were responding, Trillhaase said there was a call of shots fired.
Bridgewater Police and detectives, along with detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office, are on the scene.
No arrests have been made or suspects identified, according to Trillhaase.
