FRANKLIN, NJ – A former employee of the Franklin Mineral Museum is facing numerous chares having stolen from the museum over a period of four years. Franklin Borough Police Detectives announced the former museum manager Doreen Longo had stolen money, electronics and other items for resale.
Longo, 63 turned herself in on October 2 following an investigation of complaints of suspicious activity from other museum employees and volunteers. Longo had been the manager since 2014. She had resigned earlier this year moving from Wantage to Longs, South Carolina, police report.
Longo has been charged with theft having stolen items and embezzled more than $75,000 in cash. Longo is schedule to appear in Sussex County Superior Court on October 25. The Franklin Borough Police say the investigation is ongoing and there may be additional arrests.
