SPARTA, NJ – Brothers visited Sparta Police Department on Tuesday.  They presented a Diecast model police car of the Sparta Police Cruiser with lights and custom decals to Lt. John Lamon.

Nick and Roberto Vasquez met Lamon on the steps to give him the gift to “show our appreciation and thank the Sparta Police Department for the numerous things they’ve done to help everyone in Sparta during the COVID-19 pandemic emergency.”

The boys have attended a number of Sparta Police Department activities including the Junior Police Academy. Lamon gave the boys two patches; the patch that officers wore on their uniform for "about 50 years," and a patch that was designed by the officers two years ago and is on their uniforms today.

Lamon said he was not sure if the Junior Police Academy would be able to be held this year.  “We have to coordinate so many of the presenters,” to run the program.

The boys said it took about five days to do the decals and another day to do the lights.  The car was presented in a diorama.

Lamon said it will be on display in the lobby of the police department headquarters.
