SPARTA, NJ- A Branchville woman is facing charges of having stolen money from the person she cared for.  On January 2, a Sparta resident went to the Sparta Police Department Headquarters to report they believed the person who took care of their elderly mother had stolen money from her, police said.

According to police approximately $8,000 was missing over a three week period, police said.

Sparta Detectives investigated and confronted Eileen Sullivan, 50.  Sullivan had more than $500 in the side pocket of her lunch box that she had taken from the residence that day, police said.

Sullivan was taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department Headquarters for processing.  She was charged with third degree theft of movable property and told not to have any contact with her former employers, police said.

Sullivan was given a court date and released.
