SPARTA, NJ – Sparta police were called to help a Branchville woman who appeared to have broken down at the side of the road.  Sparta Police Officer Brian Perter and Arlene Lippencott went to see Wynter Garrett on the side of the road on Route 15, police report.

On February 15 around 11:30 p.m. the officers found Garrett standing outside her car because she said her windshield wiper blades were not working properly.  Porter smelled alcohol on Garrett’s breath and she told the officers she had a double vodka cranberry before leaving her home, police say.

Porter had Garrett perform field sobriety tests and took her into custody.  She was brought to Sparta Police Department headquarters for breath testing and processing.  She was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to notify division of motor vehicles of an address change, open container of alcohol while driving and driving while suspended.  She was give a court date and released to a sober adult.
