SPARTA, NJ –A New York man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop on Route 15 north.  On August 15 around 2 a.m. Officer Brian Porter saw a white Honda Accord driven by Fernando Clavijo, make an unsafe lane change, police said.

Porter stopped Levittown resident Clavijo, 37.  When the officer spoke with the driver he smelled marijuana in the car.  Clavijo admitted having pot in the car, police said.

Clavijo gave Porter two containers of marijuana.  Porter also found a metal marijuana grinder when he searched the vehicle, police said.

Clavijo was taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department Headquarters for processing.  Clavijo was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and unsafe lane change, police said.

He was released with a court date.
