SPARTA, NJ – A couple from Port Jervis, New York is facing numerous charges after a traffic stop on Route 15. On July 31 around 11:45 a.m. Officer Matthew Pletcher stopped Kyle Olenick, 40 driving a grey Chrysler mini van, police said.
When Pletcher had Kyle Olenick get out of the car the officer saw an empty wax fold used to store heroin. He also saw a rubber band on the driver’s seat, police said.
With other police on the scene to provide assistance, Pletcher had Deanna Olenick, 40 get out of the back seat of the van so it could be searched, police said.
A search of the van yielded 19 hypodermic needles and a number of empty wax folds. Deanna Olenick was also searched. Police found she had a full wax packet of heroin and numerous empty wax folds, police said.
The couple were taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Headquarters for processing. Kyle Olenick was charged with unlicensed driver, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic needles, controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, failure to keep right on a highway and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Deanna Olenick was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to wear a seatbelt.
Both were given court dates and released.
