SPARTA, NJ – A Rockway woman is facing drug charges after a traffic stop for failing to keep left on Route 15.  On January 27 around 9:21 p.m. Sparta Cpl. David Pridham stopped Domenick Nieves of Kearney, driving a white Ford Edge, police report.

Nieves told Pridham his license was suspended and that the car belonged to the passenger Melissa Dossantos, 37.  Dossantos told Pridham she had Nieves drive because she did not see well at night.  Pridham smelled marijuana in the car, according to police.

Sgt. Carbery and Police Officer Snyder arrived to assist. Nieves told the officers there was only a “marijuana roach” in the car.  The car was searched and the officers found the roach on the passenger side floor.  They also found a ziplock bag of marijuana in Dossantos purse. She claimed ownership and was taken into custody, police report.

Dossantos was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and allowing a suspended driver to operate her vehicle.  Nieves was charged with failure to keep right, driving while suspended, unlicensed driver and possession of controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.  Both were given a court date and released.
