SPARTA, NJ-  A Sparta man caught the attention of police officer Brian Porter for weaving on Sparta Avenue.  On December 13 around 11:30 p.m. Porter stopped Oliver Elias, 22 in a silver Nissan Rogue, police said.

When talking with Elias, Porter smelled marijuana in the car and saw a baggie of what appeared to be pot, when Elias opened the glove box, police said.

Elias was taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department Headquarters for processing.  He was charged with possession of marijuana, controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, failure to keep right ad maintenance of lamps. 

Elias was given a court date and released.
