SPARTA, NJ – A white Nissan Altima caught the attention of Officer Steven Guido because the license plates did not match the registration description. On March 5 around 1:45 p.m. Guido stopped Staten Island, New York resident Christopher Cosa, 20, on Route 15, police said.
When Guido spoke with Cosa he smelled pot in the car. Cosa admitted to smoking marijuana in the car, police said.
A search of the car yielded marijuana and paraphernalia. Cosa was taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department Headquarters for processing, police said.
Cosa was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, unregistered vehicle, fictitious plates and controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. He was released with a court date.
