SPARTA, NJ – When the light turned green at the corner of Pinecone Lane and Woodport Road the grey Hyundai Tucson did not go.  Cpl. Mark Mastandrea checked on the driver, Robert Liga to make sure he was okay, police report.

When the officer spoke with the 53 year-old Hopatcong resident, Mastandrea found Liga to be drunk.  Officer Brian Porter arrived to take over the investigation and administer field sobriety tests, police said.  

Porter then brought Liga to Sparta Police Department headquarters for breath testing and processing, police report. Liga was charged with DWI, careless deriving, obstructing the passage of other vehicles.

Liga was given a court date and released to a sober adult.
