SPARTA, NJ- A man from Hardyston is charged with drunk driving after he fled from an accident.  On December 16 around 4:30 p.m. Officer Matt Pletcher was heading to the scene of the accident at the intersection of Blue Heron and Woodport Road when he saw a yellow Hyundai with significant front end damage, police said.

Anthony Rosario, 58 was driving down Main Street toward Glen Road when Pletcher stopped him.  When Pletcher spoke with Rosario the officer suspected the driver was drunk, police said.

Pletcher asked Rosario if he had been in an accident and Rosario said, “I think so,” according to police.

The officer had Rosario perform field sobriety tests and then took him into custody.  Rosario was brought to Sparta Police Department Headquarters for processing.  After being breath tested, Rosario was charged with DWI, careless driving, failure to report an accident, leaving the scene of an accident and failing to keep right.

Rosario was given a court date and released to a sober adult.
