SPARTA, NJ- A Brooklyn, New York man was picked up after a traffic stop on Route 15. On August 27 around 11:30 p.m. Officer Thomas Herd stopped Reynaldo Lagares, 40 because his gray Kia did not have a light on the rear license plate, police said.
When Herd checked his credentials, the officer found Lagares had a no bail warrant out of Warren County for assault, police said.
Herd also searched the car because he smelled pot. When asked about the smell Lagares gave Herd a bag of marijuana. The search yielded more pot and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Lagares was taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department Headquarters for processing. He was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, maintenance of lamps and unclear plate. He was given a court date and brought to Warren County jail on their warrant.
